If you want to go get your "in game advantage" and make a 7-necro team, you'll need to go level FOUR necros to 20, and then buy the merc slots and plug them in. Honestly, if you think that's really worth it, knock yourself out, lol. (hint: it isn't)
Same as multiboxers. Whatever, if you feel it gives you some kinda edge, have fun with that.

You don't need 7 for it to be a significant advantage.
Necros are a good example. The 4th necro allows a physway to cover barbs/mop, minions, orders/soh, and resto.
Rits are another good example. A third rit make sit possible to add ST to spiritway's SoS and SoGM.
Even one extra hero in a class makes a lot of things possible that weren't before. It's a huge advantage, even before you stretch it to 7 heroes of the same class.

Dual accounting at least requires you to play two characters at once, something the vast majority of players can't do at anywhere near peak efficiency.
Now, of course, most PvE content demands so little of its players that you can practically go in down a player and do perfectly fine with six heroes. However, that doesn't mean that people willing to pay for more heroes of whatever profession aren't going to have access to more potential combinations.

"Huge advantage" seems like such an overstatement.
When was the last time you found your party DP'd out at a rez shrine, saying "Blast! If only I had ONE MORE NECRO!" ya know?

1 slot: 10 dollars
Can someone confirm if the ingame store is buggy and lying, or is the pricing really this.. Ugh.. The most horrible thing is that I'd buy it anyways. Damnit Anet, ya suckered yer' fans X_x

disapointed with the price of the mercenaries. its £29.99 here in the uk for the 8pack
why is it so expensive? the extra storage panes are the same, i could probably get a chapter of the game delivered to me for less than the cost of a storage pane :|

I do want 7 other mercs but I have to buy the 8x pack then, but $45 is kinda expensive...$25 would be more reasonable.
Also, can anyone who bought the pack confirm if you can access the full inventory of your mercenary character(s)?

Actually i think its just fine. 9.99 a slot is the same we pay for a toon slot. And if you get the packs your gonna save some cash.

an 8pack is £3.75 per slot/merc
quick bit of perspective on cost
poped on amazon and i can get all for chapters of the game for less than 8 merc slots
nf collector edition in that only bumps it up to £34.27

Turns out the mercs are clean heroes. They have the armour/body type/colour/skin of your characters but no weapons, runes or anything.

i can confirm that it does not give u ur runes/weapons. only the appearance of the armour is there.

Also you can create a butt naked hero that magically has 60AL .
I got 3 heroes since I'm not a huge PvE guy and I only have 3 chars with nice armor...
